“I have led you forty years in the wilderness. Your clothes have not worn out on you, and your sandals have not worn off your feet.”
~ Deuteronomy 29:5
As Moses reminded Israel of their wilderness journey, he pointed to a quiet miracle: God had sustained them completely. Even in a barren land, they lacked nothing.
- “I have led you…” Thriving begins with God’s leadership. He didn’t abandon Israel to wander aimlessly. He directed their steps.
- “…forty years in the wilderness.” The wilderness is not a place of abundance, yet God proved His provision in the most unlikely conditions.
- “Your clothes have not worn out on you…” God’s care covered even the smallest, daily needs.
- “…and your sandals have not worn off your feet.” He sustained them for the long haul, not just for a moment.
Applied to biblical health, this reminds us that God doesn’t just give bursts of help, He sustains. Just as He preserved Israel’s bodies, clothes, and endurance, He equips us with resilience in our bodies, strength in our minds, and steadfastness in our spirits. Even in “wilderness seasons” of uncertainty, He provides what we need to thrive.
Thriving in troubled times means trusting God’s sustaining hand. We may not always see abundance, but His provision ensures that nothing essential is missing.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for sustaining me through every season, even in wilderness times. Just as You preserved Israel, preserve my strength, my health, and my spirit. Teach me to trust that You have already equipped me with all I need to thrive. Amen.
