These words are known as the priestly blessing, given by God to Moses so that Aaron and his sons could speak it over the people of Israel. This blessing was not merely poetic. It was a declaration of God’s posture toward His people.
To be blessed and kept meant to live under God’s protection. For His face to shine implied favor, nearness, and delight. Peace, or shalom, described wholeness, completeness, and well ordered life under God’s care.
God instructed the priests to speak this blessing regularly. He wanted Israel to understand that their identity was shaped by His presence, not by fear, striving, or survival. They were not meant to live anxious, depleted, or careless with their lives. They were a people covered by God’s attention and sustained by His grace.
This blessing speaks powerfully into Biblical health.
God’s desire for His people has always included wholeness. Shalom is not limited to spiritual peace. It touches the body, the mind, and the emotions. When we receive God’s blessing, we are invited to live in alignment with His care rather than resisting it through neglect or self harm disguised as discipline.
- Knowing that God keeps us allows us to rest instead of striving.
- Living under His countenance brings stability, confidence, and peace. Anxiety often grows when we feel responsible to hold everything together ourselves. God’s blessing reminds us that He is attentive and present.
- Reframing self care as obedience. Honoring God with our bodies is a response to His care for us. Choosing rest, nourishment, and wise rhythms reflects trust in His design.
Real, God made foods support the life He created and help sustain the strength needed to serve Him. Ultra processed foods may offer convenience, but they often undermine the peace and vitality God desires for His people.
God does not cause sickness, but He does invite His people to live under His blessing by walking in His ways. Receiving His peace means aligning our lives with His wisdom so we can walk in the calling He has prepared for us.
Prayer: Father, thank You for blessing me and keeping me. Let Your face shine upon my life and fill me with Your peace. Teach me to honor You with my body, my thoughts, and my choices. Help me live under Your care so I may serve You faithfully and fulfill the purpose You have placed before me. Amen.
