An Anointing That Teaches You 1 John 2 27 October 10
“But the anointing that you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as His anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie—just as it has taught you, abide in Him.”

John was writing to believers surrounded by false teachers, deception, and confusion. Sound familiar? In a world flooded with conflicting voices—whether about faith, health, or life in general—his message is strikingly relevant: you already have what you need.

That “something” is actually Someone: the Holy Spirit. John calls Him the anointing (chrisma in Greek), a word that carries the idea of being set apart, empowered, and equipped. The Spirit doesn’t just visit us occasionally—He abides in us. His constant presence means constant guidance.

In the context of biblical health, this is crucial. We live in a time when voices about wellness, diet, toxins, and medicine are everywhere. Some are helpful, some are harmful, and many contradict each other. But here’s the promise: the Holy Spirit Himself teaches us what is true and leads us in the way we should go.

Does that mean we don’t need doctors, teachers, or wise counselors? No. John isn’t saying we reject human instruction. Rather, he’s reminding us that the Spirit within us helps us discern truth from lies, wisdom from error. He keeps us anchored in Christ when the world pulls us in every direction.

And here’s the key: “Just as it has taught you, abide in Him.” To thrive in troubled times isn’t about having all the world’s answers—it’s about staying rooted in Christ through His Spirit. When you abide in Him, you won’t be easily swayed by fear, fads, or false teaching. You’ll have peace, clarity, and the wisdom you need to live strong, even in a sick world.

So as you walk your biblical health journey—making choices about food, lifestyle, and what you allow into your body and home—don’t rely only on outside voices. Ask the Spirit to guide you. His anointing abides in you. He will lead you into truth.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, thank You that Your anointing abides in me. In a world full of noise and confusion, be my Teacher. Help me discern truth from error, wisdom from folly. Teach me to abide in You, so that I may thrive in body, soul, and spirit, even in troubled times.
