Paul wrote these words to believers who were confused by false teachings about food. Some were declaring that certain foods were inherently unclean, creating unnecessary fear and restriction. Paul brings the focus back where it belongs: what God created is good. What

He provides can be received with thanksgiving and blessed through prayer. The key is this: everything God created is good. But not everything we eat today was created by God.

Modern culture calls many things “food” that Scripture never would. Ultra-processed products loaded with bleach, artificial coloring, refined sugars, industrial oils, and chemical additives are not part of God’s creation. They are man-made substances engineered for shelf life, profit, and addiction, not for health.

This verse does not give approval to anything harmful simply because it appears on a grocery shelf. Paul is speaking of what God created, not what humans have heavily altered or fabricated.

Gratitude begins by acknowledging the difference. Real food grows. Real food nourishes. Real food reflects God’s goodness. Fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts, seeds, clean proteins, and whole, unaltered ingredients carry the life God placed within them.

They energize the body, support longevity, and strengthen the immune system. These are the good gifts that can be received with thanksgiving and made holy by the Word of God and prayer.

Ultra-processed products, by contrast, burden the body. They create inflammation, disrupt hormones, weaken immunity, and drain energy. Biblical health calls us to wisdom, not naïve acceptance. There is no room for “moderation” with toxins. We avoid them because we honor the body God entrusted to us.

Receiving food with thanksgiving does more than bless the meal. Gratitude calms the nervous system, improves digestion, and shifts the heart from stress to peace. Eating in a rushed, anxious, or distracted state puts strain on the body. But when we slow down, give thanks, and acknowledge God as our Provider, the body responds with rest and readiness.

Paul’s words remind us that God’s creation is good and His provision is purposeful. Biblical health grows when we embrace what He made and release what harms. Gratitude keeps our hearts anchored, our bodies supported, and our daily nourishment aligned with God’s design.

Prayer: Father, thank You for the good things You created to nourish and strengthen my body. Give me wisdom to embrace what brings life and to avoid what harms. Let my meals be received with thanksgiving, blessed by Your Word, and used to support the health and wholeness You desire for me. Amen.
