~ Deuteronomy 31:8
Moses spoke these words as he passed leadership to Joshua. Israel was about to enter the Promised Land, facing battles and uncertainties. But God’s promise was clear: His presence would go before them, walk with them, and never abandon them.
Notice the fourfold assurance:
- “The LORD goes before you.” He prepares the way ahead, removing obstacles and arranging circumstances. You don’t walk into tomorrow alone.
- “He will be with you.” Not only does He go ahead, but He stays beside you. His presence is constant and personal.
- “He will not leave you or forsake you.” This covenant promise means His loyalty is unwavering. He doesn’t walk away when things get hard.
- “Do not fear or be dismayed.” Because of His presence, fear and despair lose their grip. Courage rises where God walks.
Applied to biblical health, this truth is deeply comforting. One of the hardest parts of sickness, uncertainty, or trial is the feeling of being alone. But thriving in troubled times begins with this assurance: you are never forsaken.
- When facing health challenges, He goes before you into every appointment and decision.
- When you feel weak, He is with you, strengthening and sustaining.
- When fear whispers abandonment, His Word declares faithfulness.
Thriving, then, is not about never facing hardship—it’s about never facing it alone. The God who goes before you, walks beside you, and promises never to leave is your unshakable foundation.
Prayer: Lord, thank You that You go before me, stay with me, and never forsake me. Drive out fear and discouragement from my heart. Help me thrive with courage, resting in the certainty that I am never alone because You are always faithful. Amen.
