A favorite Bible verse about Fathers is, “Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from Him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them.” (Psalm 127:3-4)

Over the years, many people have debated how many children are required to fill up this quiver, but one thing is for sure: children should be valued as a blessing – no matter how many you have!

Our Heavenly Father’s Example

Ever since I have had children, I have come to know the heart of the Father like never before. I read Bible verses about fathers, but once I had children and became a father I saw things in a new way. I believe that every man that has been blessed with children has been given a great insight; a great opportunity to know what it is like to relate to God as a Father. Even so, there are other ways that men could be called to fatherhood and tremendous blessing outside of natural born children.

I have been blessed with six precious children, and my heart is so full of love for each and every one of them. When I became a father for the first time with Esther, I knew that I had been blessed with something far greater than I could have ever imagined. I was stunned in the best way possible! This beautiful little girl had drawn me closer in relationship to my Heavenly Father in just a matter of moments with her first few breaths. In an instant I felt a deeper connection with the love of my Heavenly Father for me.

It’s true that not all dads are fathers in the godly sense, but it’s also true that some who are fathers, are not dads. That’s perfectly clear right? Let me explain. Some men have never been biological fathers but have been granted fatherhood through a higher calling. Whether you have a spiritual child, a niece or nephew or are mentoring someone, those of you who are father figures have been given a gift by God to be able to relate to and reflect our Heavenly Father’s calling in a very real and tangible way.

My prayer is that regardless of your specific situation, that you men answer the call to lead, guide, encourage, correct and teach those you have been placed in your care and to seek out others to help support and spread His eternal wisdom and influence.

May you be blessed by these Bible verses about Fathers. I pray that you may be lead to be a father figure to someone in need of a Godly man in their lives. So you may know more deeply the relationship you have with The Father. May you be abundantly blessed!
